For the week of August 17th, residents should set their materials out on their regular day but expect collection delays throughout the week. The Streets Department anticipates trash will be slightly delayed and recycling will be significantly behind as crews continue to prioritize trash collections to mitigate the threat to health and safety. Collections continue to be impacted by severe weather, increased tonnage and attendance. 

The Streets Department anticipated being caught up on trash and recycling by the end of this week, but collections were significantly delayed by the severe rainstorms.  While crews were able to catch up on the majority of recycling that sat prolonged at the curb from previous weeks on Monday, August 10th , collecting materials during the harsh rain presented additional challenges by the end of the week. 

Crews are continuously working throughout the weekend to collect materials that remain on the ground. Residents should anticipate the possibility of additional delays as the Department continues to balance increased tonnage and staff shortages. These factors have made on-time collections for both commodities a major challenge.   

To avoid collection delays, residents are strongly encouraged to use  Sanitation Convenience Centers that will remain open seven days a week, from Monday through Sunday between the hours of 6AM to 8PM.
