    Fox 29Philadelphia officials have postponed indoor dining until at least Sept.1 as cases continue to rise. Indoor dining was previously set to resume on Aug. 1 in the city.

    “For restaurants—you have our sympathy. They are getting hit hard,” Philadelphia Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley said at a Tuesday press briefing.” With case counts rising, I think it’s better for them to not open instead of opening and then having to shut down later.”

    The MLB announced that the remainder of the home-and-home series between the Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Yankees has been postponed out of an abundance of caution. Additionally, the Miami Marlins’ schedule has been postponed through Sunday.

    Philadelphia City Institute Library on Rittenhouse Square will accept returns of library materials in lobby on the following days and times:

    • Monday July 27, 10 am - 4 pm
    • Tuesday July 28, 10 am - 4 pm
    • Wednesday July 29, 10 am - 4 pm
    • Friday July 31, 10 am - 4 pm
    Please wear a mask or face covering when returning library materials. Please allow at least 5 days for your items to be checked in once you have returned them.

    City officials say recycling pickup on will be suspended on Monday and Tuesday of next week as sanitation workers continue to manage the overflow of trash that has accumulated across the city.

    The Streets Department on Saturday said residents should put their garbage curbside on their normal pickup dates, but withhold recycling until the following week for Monday and Tuesday collections. The department will return to a normal recycling schedule on Wednesday, July 29th.

    Non-binary now gender option on Pennsylvania driver’s licenses, ID cards

    Non-binary will now be a gender option on Pennsylvania driver’s licenses and ID cards, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced Thursday.

    “In keeping with its dedicated efforts to provide commonwealth citizens with fair and equitable services, PennDOT announced today that it now offers a non-binary gender designation option for its driver licenses and photo identification cards,” a news release said.

    Gender designation options on Pennsylvania drivers licenses and photo ID cards will now be “M” (male), “F” (female) or “X” (non-binary).

    VoteSafe Pennsylvania has launched a statewide bipartisan campaign that aims to ensure every Pennsylvania voter has access to safe voting options for the November election.

    As covid-19 threatens to disrupt traditional voting procedures, VoteSafe Pennsylvania is advocating for secure mail-in ballots and safe in-person voting sites. The group is also educating voters about what voting options are available to them, as this year marks the first time all Pennsylvania voters can vote via mail-in ballot.

    These actions requiring officers to undergo pre-employment background checks and mental health evaluations are just a start toward a fairer and better system for everyone.
