In Buddhism, mantras are considered to be highly effective tools to help us generate and stay focused on beneficial sates of mind, such as compassion for others or clarity of thought. They are phrases of words and syllables recited over and over again to help our minds settle down and maintain mindfulness on a positive state of being. When chanted, the mantras bring the practitioner peace of mind.
During this virtual Mantra-thon, offered by the Chenrezig Tibetan Buddhist Center of Philadelphia and facilitated by Sr. Sharifa Vernice Meytung, we will be chanting traditional Buddhist mantras focused on bringing individual peace, as well as peace for our families, our friends, our neighborhoods, the country, and the world. Everyone is welcome drop in to this Zoom event at any time and stay as long as you like. Mantras will be shown on a shared screen, so that we can all read and chant along together!
