Town Hall Forum
Wednesday, 3/30, 7 - 8 PM
10th Presbyterian Church - 18th & Spruce
Following an early morning altercation that took place on 3/13, a 24 year old man was stabbed to death near 19th and Rittenhouse Square. It is believed that the suspect is a homeless veteran. Then, less than one week later, Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Kevin Dougherty was assaulted near City Hall. News reports indicated that the assailant has struggled with schizophrenia for years.
In light of these recent events, CCRA will be holding a town hall forum. This forum will include a distinguished panel of experts who will discuss these incidents from various angles and provide the community with information about the types of mental health and housing services that government agencies and non-profits are providing to homeless individuals. The panel will include Captain Ray Convery from the Philadelphia 9th Police District as well as representatives from the Philadelphia Office of Supportive Housing, the Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual Disability Services, and Project HOME.
